The BiC Training Events Programme

The national training programme has been developed by EH, CABE and the Kent Architecture Centre following the successful south east regional programme. The training aims to help those making decisions to reach effective and balanced design decisions.

Core elements of the Building in Context programme

  • bespoke training delivered in partnership with clients to meet specific requirements, usually based around a current, topical site or issue
  • practical sessions that include discussions and/or exercises using built environment assessment techniques focused on the core principles and techniques of BiC
  • case studies illustrating current good practice based around the topical site or issue to be explored in the training session

Uses and applications for Building in Context training

  • Acquiring new skills and refresher sessions
  • General design training
  • Informal network opportunities for champions in neighbouring authorities

The Building in Context TOOLKIT contributes to local and national initiatives that will enable:

  • future generations to have an opportunity to enjoy the built environment in a condition at least as good as that we currently enjoy
  • people who live in and visit England to enjoy, appreciate and learn from the built environment
  • those people who care for and manage the built environment
